Our Mission

BARC was formed and continues to fulfill the purposes of using our skills to provide communications to aid public safety and health, sharing the technology among all interested to develop skills and experimentation to enhance the communications technology.

Profile

BARC was founded in 1947 in Baltimore City, and has met continuously since that time.

Information about our public service activity can be seen in detail in the accompanying links.   In general, we provide communications at events such as runs, walkathons, festivals and parades.   These communications are generally concerned with the health, welfare or safety of the participants and/or general public.

Our club consists of over 200 members in the central Maryland area and from around the US.  Members range in age from 10 to over 90 years old.  Men, women, boys and girls all work together to fulfill our objectives.

BARC is a member of the Foundation for Amateur Radio and is affiliated with the American Radio Relay League.
